What is HVO Fuel?

HVO, or Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, is a 2nd generation biofuel that’s designed to be a drop-in replacement for mineral diesel such as red diesel and Derv (white diesel). It is a massive step forward in the world of renewable fuels.

HVO Fuel combines the sustainable raw materials found in first-generation biofuels with new and innovative technologies, producing a fuel that’s not only 100% renewable but has qualities that make it far more environmentally friendly:

Who can use HVO Fuel

In short, almost any engine, machine or generator designed to run on red diesel or Derv should be able to use HVO Fuel without any modifications and draining the current fuel.

This is because HVO meets EN15940 standards for paraffinic fuels and Fuel Quality Directive 2009/30/EC Annex II – giving it the same combustion qualities as mineral diesel, without the environmental pitfalls.
